History of GEMS - a Guild Event Management System / Guild Event Manager System

First version is still very much under development :)

It all started back in 2005 when a lot of raids were mixed up and people didn't know when and where to do what raid. Back then we used a forum based signup system - and it was impossible to get an overview time and dates - let alone who was signed up and/or off!

This was when I began to see the need of a good system to use for signing up for raids (events).

GEMS was born... but there is still a lot todo ;)

If you have ideas for the system, please check the todo site. I try to list all bugs and feature requests there. Thanks :)

PS: GEMS (Guild Event Management System) is not related to the WoW addon GEM (Guild Event Manager). While the function of the two systems is alike I did not know about GEM till long after I named GEMS let alone build this system. By the look of dates GEMS was not public when the first version of GEM was - but that does not mean he/she was first! ;)

About the author

The system is designed and made by Ni of Paparazzi - born from the late Phoenix Flame. I started building the system when I was in Nordlys - another great guild on Balnazzar - a realm in World of Warcraft. Nordlys had a lot more members, hence it was rarely the same 40 persons raiding together. This was reason enough to have an easy to use sign up system.

UPDATE: I no longer play WoW actively but I am still in close contact with several raiding guilds. This actually seem to be better for the development of GEMS :)
